Description
Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells derived from the embryonic mesoderm. Mammary fibroblasts (MFs) synthesize components of the mammary stromal extracellular matrix. Importantly, this stromal extracellular matrix regulates the proliferation and differentiation of mammary epithelial cells by modulating their gene expression. Furthermore, previous studies have shown that mammary fibroblasts function in recruiting macrophages for immune surveillance, which, together with extracellular matrix turnover and angiogenesis, contributes to a mammary microenvironment supportive of tumor cell progression. These findings indicate that MFs play a stimulatory functional role in the development and invasion of breast cancer.
Immortalized Human Mammary Fibroblasts were transduced with lentivirus carrying the SV40 gene and puromycin resistance. Tests confirmed that the cells are free from bacterial and fungal contamination, exhibit excellent proliferation potential, and can be passaged 10-20 times in vitro.
