Description
HEK293 Cell Line Stable Expressing Green Fluorescent ACE2 is an “in vitro” model for research studies. We developed the stable cell line by transfecting HEK293 cells with a human Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (hACE2) receptor expression plasmid tagged with turboGFP. The fluorescent cell line provides consistent levels of expression of human fluorescent ACE2 protein on cell surface.
ACE2 is the main host cell receptor of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) from human airway epithelial cells (P10559). Particularly, ACE2 plays a key role in the virus entry into the host cells and causing the final infection. In the process, the coronaviruses use the spike glycoprotein on the envelope to bind to their cellular ACE2 receptors through their receptor binding domain (RBD). Therefore, the study of the interactions between the coronavirus and the ACE2 receptor plays a crucial role in the findings of possible therapeutic strategies to treat the COVID-19 disease. So, this fluorescent ACE2 stable cell line is an important cellular tool for COVID-19 research.
