Description

  • The MOVAS cell line (Mouse Aortic Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells) is a spindle-shaped cell lineage.
  • It was first isolated in 1999 from the aortic smooth muscle of adult mice.
  • Primary vascular smooth muscle cells were obtained through digestion with collagenase and elastase. Then the cells were transfected with a retrovirus encoding the SV40 large T antigen and a neomycin resistance gene.
  • The transfected cells were subjected to clonal selection in culture medium containing 0.4 mg/ml G418. And the subclones were obtained using the limiting dilution method.
  • The MOVAS cell line is widely used in cardiovascular disease research.
