Tau Stable Cell Lines

Tau represents the subunit protein of one of the major hallmarks of Alzheimer disease (AD), the neurofibrillary tangles. Therefore, tau is of major interest as an indicator of disease mechanisms. They are abundant in neurons of the central nervous system and are less common elsewhere; but also appears at very low levels in CNS astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. They accumulate in neurofibrillary tangles in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brain. There is significant evidence that a disruption of normal phosphorylation events results in tau dysfunction. It is a contributing factor to the pathogenic processes of neurodegenerative diseases, such as AD. Cells Online offers a novel family of tau stable cell lines through stable transfection with different fluorescent isoforms of tau protein and mutants. Each tau cell line is stably transfected and ready to use in cell‐based assay applications. These cell lines provide consistent levels of expression and help  simplify the interpretation of the results. These cell lines are valuable tools for use as “in vitro” models for research studies.
